Tips & Tricks

  • Drape tortilla over the grate in the oven. Allow to bake for a few minutes and now you have a hard taco shell
  • To bring out the flavor, squeeze a lime or lemon slice on your dish
  • Use avocado for a creamy healthy topping
  • For added spice, bring out your favorite hot sauce or salsa
  • Add a dollop of sour cream as a tangy, refreshing finish. Better yet Greek yogurt for a low calorie, high protein substitute.
  • Added flare: use fresh cilantro or parsley to garnish
  • Run canned black beans under water to remove excess salt, which is what companies use as preservative
  • Use refried beans instead of black beans. Would not need to cook with pepper and onion mix.
  • Leftover ½ can of beans? Throw in a salad, add to a chili, or mix in with scrambled eggs. Refrigerated once open, they should last about 4 days.
